Jackson Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Cole Jackson of Hurricane Soccer!

Cole Jackson has been leading the defensive effort for the 18-1-2 Hurricane Soccer team this season. Hurricane has only allowed 9 goals through 21 games this season, and have not allowed a goal throughout the playoffs. “The season has been going fantastic, I feel like we have really come together, and it’s just been really fun,” said Jackson.

“Cole is a model of what a Hurricane soccer player is supposed to be; hardworking, dedicated and plays for his teammates. Even though he is not a captain, he knows that it doesn’t stop him from being a leader. Always supporting the younger players and takes pride in the team’s success,” said head coach Kent Bailey.

Jackson started playing soccer for Great Teays soccer league when he was 3 years old, and said his family was just always involved with the sport. The aspect he like most about soccer is the friendships and opportunities that the sport has presented him. When discussing role models, Jackson pointed to one of his youth coaches, Denis Ahebwa. “He really taught me what it meant to play soccer competitively,” said Jackson.

In addition to soccer, Jackson is a member of FCA, National English Honor Society, and DECA. The senior plans to study Accounting and Finance at WVU next Fall.

Hurricane will take on Spring Mills in the semi-finals of the state tournament on Thursday.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
