The team captain has been making waves this season and picking up from her third place finish in the State Championships in 2016.
When asked about what motivates her, Regan responded, “My motivation comes from my family, coaches, teammates, and my travel swimming coach Scott Ellis. ” When asked about what her goals were for the season, Regan replied, “I’ve really wanted to improve my times from last year and over the course of this season. Every time I swim I want to improve and that’s the mentality I have when I train. Our coaches and my teammates push each other to improve. We want do the best as individuals because it will ultimately improve our team as a whole.”
The Lady Dragons Swim team has been trying to hit their mark over the course of the year after the MSAC Championships and in preparation for the upcoming WVSSAC State Championships. When asked about Regan’s success Head Swimming Coach Sydney Layton said, “She’s had a great season so far. She has been really motivated to improve from her previous success, and even has made goals for herself. She trains year around and even trains two times per day. Regan has the discipline to be a great swimmer. She balances being a great student in the classroom, junior class Vice President, and she is a fantastic swimmer. Our team loves her energy and enthusiasm to swim and compete. It has been rubbing off on her teammates and is making us a better team overall. No matter how things end up at the state meet, we’re all proud of her accomplishments.”
Regan currently has a 4.8 GPA and is the daughter of Janna and David Raines. Regan also swims on a travel swim team, WV Wild. She is a member of student council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She says she would love to continue swimming on the collegiate level, and has an interest in studying medicine or engineering.
