Hurricane Boys Soccer Team is the Gamer of the Week

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. & the Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Male Gamer of the Week to Putnam County’s own Hurricane High School Boy’s Soccer Team.

By Marcus Reynolds PT, DPT, CSCS

The Redskin’s boy’s soccer team captured their second state championship last week as they beat Wheeling Park High School by a final score of 2-0 at Beckley’s YMCA Paul Cline’s Memorial Youth Sports Complex. The Redskins were able to halt a strong charge by Wheeling Park early on and then controlled the possession of the ball for the majority of the game. Senior Jackson Snavely scored two goals for the Redskins to help earn them the victory while the Redskins defense and an ounce of luck lead them the rest of the way. When Head Soccer Coach Jim Dagostine was asked about his team’s victory he replied, ‘’They refused to lose and they had the support of the community behind them all season. You could just sense their eagerness and confidence once sectional play began and it carried onward toward the state championship final. It was a total team effort from the start to the finish of the season, and I’m glad the boys took this old man along for the ride. Go Redskins.’’ The Redskins ended the year with a 19-1-4 record on top of a very competitive AAA class in West Virginia and look forward to defending their crown for the 2018 season.

Congratulations to our local standout team and please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s Male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. & The Putnam Herald.
