Vellaithambi Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Noah Vellaithambi of Hurricane Football!

Noah Vellaithambi has been leading the offense for 8-2 Hurricane Football this season. The junior running back has rushed for over 1300 yards; averaging 130 yards per game and 7.8 yards per carry this season. “This season has been different, having switched positions, but we have had a good season…The offensive line has been playing great and as a running back, they play a big part in my success running the ball so I give all my credit to them up front,” said Vellaithambi.

Vellaithambi has accounted for 23 touchdowns this season; 19 rushing, 1 receiving, and 3 passing.  He also contributes on both sides of the ball adding 26 tackles from the secondary. “Noah is a tremendous teammate and has performed at a level above anyone’s expectations. He leads the secondary in tackles and leads our team in rushing. He’s a smart player and makes everyone around him better. Noah is having a tremendous season and should be mentioned for major awards,” said Head Coach Donnie Mays.

Vellaithambi started playing football when he was 7-years old after his dad offered him $50 if he would play, and he has played the game since. “I like the team aspect of the sport, where you really have to come together to succeed,” said Vellaithambi. As far as role models, Vellaithambi said he has always looked up to his dad who taught him the game, took him to camps, and helped him with everything.

#6 Hurricane will be back in action Friday at 7:30pm when they host #13 Parkersburg in the first round of the state playoffs.
