Misch Awarded Gamer of the Week Honors

TTeays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Sophomore, Carolyn Misch of the Winfield High School swim team.

Winfield Generals Carolyn Misch is having a spectacular sophomore season during the 2023-2024 swim season. Misch is a freestyler and backstroker and ranks 5th in both the Region IV and in the Cardinal Conference. Misch had a personal best on the season on January 6th at the New Year Kickoff swim meet held at the Tri-County YMCA where she placed 2nd in the 50 Y Free with a time of 26.62 and 1st place in 100 Y Back with a time of 1:10:16.

Misch first began her swimming career when she was in 5th grade, “I wanted to learn how to dive, so I started swim lessons and fell in love with the sport”. Carolyn has been swimming for 6 years now and what she likes most about the sport is how strong is makes her, both physically and mentally. “It has taught me a lot about being healthy”. Roles models for Misch include both of her parents. “They have shown me how to be a hard worker and strive for my goals”. When it comes to success Misch believes the success of her team comes from “good leadership from coaches and swimmers. We had lots of beginners this year, and they are all very willing to learn”. Goals for Carolyn for the remainder of the season include making it to states in four events and a team goal of getting as many of her teammates to states as possible.

Carolyn’s current plan for after high school includes attending an in-state college and studying a science related field. Misch is involved in marching/concert band, a member of Key Club, WV Wild, and a coach/swimmer for Sleepy Hollow. Misch also maintains a 4.0 GPA and is in multiple honor classes. She was selected for the All-County Swim Team last year, and received the Lois Kinneer award, an award for leadership and sportsmanship at Sleepy Hollow. Last year, Misch’s relay team placed 5th in states and won the Cardinal Conference Championship.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
