Allen Awarded Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Junior, Savannah Allen of the Hurricane High School tennis team.

Hurricane tennis number one returning player, Savannah Allen is having a great start to her Junior season. Allen both #1 singles and doubles has been playing tennis since the 3rd grade after beginning the sport because her mom used to play. Savannah likes the competitive aspect of the sport and being challenged by her opponents. Allen’s goal for the remainder of her junior season is “to capitalize on my success from last year by making the all-state team again and finishing well at states and make states as an entire team”. She believes her team has been doing well this season because of the chemistry the team has and the length of time they have all played together. When discussing role models Allen stated, “I am thankful for all the supportive people in my life as well as having great teammates and coaches”. Coach Kendra White “Savannah is a great player with a very competitive drive. She never gives up and always gives 100 percent. She brings confidence and experience on the court as she is the returning number one player”.

On the court Allen has won states her Freshman year for #3 singles, placed top 3 in the state last year for #1 singles, made the all-state and all-tournament team, and won regionals. Off the court Allen is a member of the national honor society and mu alpha theta. After high school Allen plans on attending college and furthering her academic career.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
