Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Dylan Kuhl of Winfield Baseball.

Dylan Kuhl has helped lead the way this season for the 27-9 Winfield Baseball Team. “Dylan is unquestionably our leader…He is the pulse of our team. Through the post-season he has been the vocal leader, keeping guys together. If someone makes a mistake, he is getting them back up. His head is always in the game, and thinking about the game state,” said Head Coach Will Issacs

Kuhl has been adding more than just leadership to the team this season, in his first year pitching at the high school level he is 7-2 with a 2.088 earned run average. The senior has primarily played catcher throughout his career, taking after his grandfather who was a catcher in Cleveland’s minor league system, but has stepped into a new role this season to help bolster the pitching staff.

In the batter’s box, Kuhl is hitting .283 with 24 runs batted in and 4 home runs. When discussing his success this season Kuhl said, “Just knowing it is my last year of baseball, and I don’t want to go out on a bad note, so I have just been working hard every day and just trying to execute in the game…and it has been paying off so far.”

Winfield won their first Regional Championship in over 20-years last week and will play Lewis County in the semi-finals of the state tournament on Friday at 5pm. “Baseball is a game of failure, you will fail a lot more times than you succeed, but what this team is so good at is all of our players move on to the next pitch. Often times much better than I do…I think that is the key for us this season, we have talented players, great culture, kids love being around each other, and work extremely hard, but the ability to learn from what happened, move on, and try to be better has been key for this team,” said Issacs

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
