Richardson Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Cole Richardson of Buffalo Baseball!

Cole Richardson has been leading the way for the 7-3 Buffalo Bison baseball team. The senior has pitched 14 innings this season and has a 2.00 earned run average with 18 strike outs. “We started off the season with a 3-1 win over Wahama, the defending state champions, and I threw a complete game,” said Richardson. He went on to discuss the season, and attributes a lot of the success to his teammates and coaches.

In addition to his performance on the mound, Richardson has also contributed in the batter’s box with .250 batting average with 4 runs batted in. “Cole leads by example and let’s his arm, bat, and glove do the talking. He is a top-quality pitcher and has pitched very well in all his starts on the mound. He continues to improve and works very hard at becoming a great player, said head coach Jimmy Tribble.

Richardson started playing baseball when he was 4 and says he has been playing baseball from February to October ever since. “I like how satisfying the sport is, just getting a hit or striking someone out,” said Richardson. When discussing role models, he pointed to his dad who coached him when he was young, always pushed him, and has been a great mentor.

In addition to baseball, Richardson is a member of National Honor Society at Buffalo. Next year, he plans to attend Marshall University to study Mechanical Engineering.

Buffalo will be back in action Friday when they travel to take on Point Pleasant at 6pm.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
