Childers Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Male Gamer of the Week to Bryson Childers of Calvary Basketball!

Bryson Childers has been leading the way for the 18-2 Calvary Basketball Academy Team. The senior is averaging 22 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game this season. “Bryson has had an incredible season so far, excelling both on and off the court. Not only is he a talented basketball player, but his love for God and his teammates shine through everything he does, inspiring and uplifting those around him. We’re thankful he is part of the CBA family,” said Head Basketball Coach Zack Bogan.

Calvary is on a 10-game win streak including victories over Summit Christian Academy, Teays Valley Christian, and Sissonville High School. “The season has been going great, leading the team in scoring and rebounding, and we are playing well as a team. Chemistry is starting to kick in and we have a good group of guys,” said Childers. Looking forward, he says he is excited for the WV Christian Athletic Tournament and the NCSAA National Tournament in a few weeks.

When discussing what has led to his individual success this season, he said “I have just been trusting in God and what he has for me, my work ethic, and support of people in my life which has motivated me to be myself and have confidence when I am on the court.”

Childers started playing basketball when he was young, but really began taking it seriously when he got into Middle School and has worked hard to get to where he is today.  In addition to Basketball, Childers is a member of National Honor Society at Calvary. He is also heavily involved with his church and the church youth group.  Looking ahead, Childers said he is weighing options to potentially play college basketball and is interested in going into ministry or education.

Calvary will be back in action Thursday against Belfry at 7:30pm.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald
