Marshall Earns Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Brayden Marshall of Winfield Cross Country.
Brayden Marshall of Winfield Cross Country is the top Ranked Runner in AA heading into championship season. Brayden is coming off a great performance at Great American XC Festival in Cary, NC. The senior finished 6 out of 375 runners in a time of 14:51 leading the team finished 7 out of 44 teams. “The season has been off to a great start. It has been really exciting, we have an awesome team this year and everyone has put in a ton of work all year round,” said Marshall “We have been able to accomplish some great things this season, including a third-place finish at the Trinity Valkyrie Invitational and winning every in-state competition so far this season,” he continued.
Marshall will be looking for the three-peat later this season as he is the 2x defending AA State Cross Country Champion. He has been a consistent performer at the state meet, hosted by Cabel Midland High School, placing 3rd freshman year in a time of 16:37, 1st sophomore year in a time of 16:24, and 1st junior year in a time of 15:50. “Brayden has had a great senior year so far. He’s an extremely hard worker, focused, and a great team leader. He is very humble, leads by example, and his integrity is top notch,” said Head Coach Shawn Anderson.
Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Marshall said he is looking forward to the state meet with the goals of winning the team title and chasing the state meet record. He plans to continue on after the state meet to a couple national meets.
In addition to Cross Country, Marshall is a stand out performer on the Track with multiple state championship performances. He is also the Student Body President and member of National Honor Society and DECA at Winfield. Marshall has committed to run at NC State next season, and plans to study mechanical engineering.
