Bobersky Awarded Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s female Gamer of the Week to Senior, Julia Bobersky of the Hurricane High School swim team.
Hurricane’s Julia Bobersky is off to a great start of her Senior swim season. Julia placed 1st overall in the 100 fly and 500 free at the Autumn Classic, 1st overall in the 500 free and 2nd overall in the 100 fly at the West Virginia Wild Winter Blast. Bobersky’s main events include the 100 fly, 500 free and 200 free as well as the A medley relay swimming fly and the A 200 free relay. Bobersky has also been on the states team for her high school in four events all throughout her high school career. When not swimming for the Redskins, Bobersky is also a member of the West Virginia Wild and the Sleepy Hollow swim teams.
Bobersky started her swimming career when she was only 5 years old after watching her older sister who she looked up to swim for the Sleepy Hollow swim team. Bobersky has been swimming for the past 13 years and the thing she enjoys most about swimming is her teammates who always support her and help her to be her best self. Role models that Bobersky has are her grandparents. “They are very special to me, and have been my number one fans throughout everything, and have always taught me to be a hard worker”.
The goal that Bobersky has for this season is to place well at states and to keep a positive mindset. When thinking about the success of herself and her teammates “I think my team has been successful this year because we have an amazing coach who is so supportive and makes each swimmer feel special and everyone on the team is very close friends, so we all work well together and give each other advice”. Outside of swimming Julia is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Student Council Historian, and the Fellowship of Christian athletes. After high school Bobersky plans on attending Fairmont State University and continuing her swimming career.
Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
