Bielinski Awarded Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Senior, Rylyn Bielinski of the Hurricane High School soccer team.

The Hurricane Redskin’s are on a 10-0-win streak as they continue to dominate the field. The Redskins are currently #1 in the Mountain State conference being led by center back #27 Rylyn Bielinski as one of the team's captains. Bielinski has 6 goals on the season with a hat-trick in Hurricane’s 10-0 win against Spring Valley. “Rylyn’s athleticism and skill are immediately apparent but what sets her apart are her leadership skills and selflessness. She’s stepped into the role of center back despite being more comfortable in the midfield because she is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team be successful and she is flourishing there. She has the ability to be an offensive threat from the backline and she’s a physical presence on the field. I will let her tell you about her academic accolades and volunteer work. She’s a really great human being and the world would be a better place with more people like her in it.” said head coach Shelly Young.

Bielinski started playing soccer at the age of 3 with her brother and her love for the game grew as she started her soccer career on a local rec team and later became a member of the Eastern Elite travel team. Rylyn’s favorite thing about the sport of soccer is the team aspect and getting to spend time with her teammates. She believes the success her team has had this season stems from great leadership, good communication, and team bonding. Role models for Rylyn include her mom and her grandpa who were both great athletes. Bielinski is set on a team goal of winning the state soccer championship for Hurricane.

Off the field, Bielinski is a member of the basketball team as well as the track team. Not only does Bielinski compete athletically but academically as well. She is a member of the National Honor Society - Secretary, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta - President, Student Body Secretary, and Miss Redskin candidate. Bielinski’s plans after high school include becoming a Hill Topper at West Liberty University where she plans to major in biology and premed and is committed to playing soccer. Hurricane soccer will be back in action on Saturday, September 23rd at 10 am versus Parkersburg South High School at Erickson Field.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
