Kuhl Earns Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Caleb Kuhl of Winfield Football.
Caleb Kuhl has been a key contributor for the 4-1 Winfield Generals! Kuhl is a senior captain and is the starting Center and Defensive End for the Generals. “The season has been going well, we have a great coaching staff that puts us in position to succeed,” said Kuhl “I am not the most talented, but God gives everyone the opportunity to give a perfect effort, so I try to give a perfect effort for everything I do. Especially when things go wrong, that is all you can do,” Kuhl continued.
Kuhl is 3-year starter and earned Honorable Mention All-State and First Team All-Conference honors last season. “Caleb is a great example of what every high school athlete should strive for. He has faith in God, displays great integrity, is a good student in the classroom, and leads by example on and off the field. He is well liked by his peers and is respected by his coaches for being a team first guy and the hardest worker every day in practice,” said Head Coach Eddie Smolder.
Football was the natural choice of sports for Kuhl. “My whole family has played football for Winfield, it is just the thing to do,” said Kuhl. Kuhl says he enjoys the physicality of football, the success he has had in the sport, and the platform it provides to witness to other people. When discussing role models, Kuhl pointed to many people including his parents and coaches. Looking ahead, the senior says he is trying to take it all in this season and be where his feet are stating that time really does move fast.
In addition to football, Kuhl is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society. The senior plans to play football in college but has not made a decision of where he will play next season. Kuhl is focused on serving people, so he is considering degrees that would lead him into ministry or law enforcement.
Winfield will be back in action on Friday October 6th at 7pm when they travel to county rival Poca to take on the Dots.
Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
