Bonnett Earns Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Preston Bonnett of Poca Football and Soccer!
Preston Bonnett has contributed to Poca Football and Soccer team’s this season. The Junior is averaging 146 yards rushing per game, 40 yards receiving per game, and has 5 touchdowns on the season for the football team. “Preston is a very gifted athlete that can do a lot of different things on the football field. He is a humble kid, that’s a great teammate, and the first one to give his teammates praise and credit,” said Head Football Coach Seth Ramsey.
“This season has been going well! I have already achieved a couple goals including scoring 5 touchdowns and rushing for over 100 yards per game,” said Bonnett. He went on to attribute a lot of his success this season to his teammates and coaches, saying “the team has been very supportive, the line has been blocking great, and the coaches have been really working with me.” Bonnett still has a couple goals outstanding this season including earning all-state honors this year.
Bonnett has been focusing on Football this season, but has played in 8 games this season soring 1 goal and assisting on 5 additional goals for the soccer team. “I think he plays five different sports here at Poca. Just extremely involved with a lot of things. He is always working to improve at just about every aspect of his game. We are extremely happy for him and excited about how much better he can be before he graduates.” said Ramsey.
Bonnett grew up playing soccer and added football to the fall slate in Middle School after the football coaches encouraged him to try the sport. He says he quickly fell in love with the game and really likes the community and fan support at games. In addition to Football and Soccer, Bonnett does basketball, baseball and track as well.
