“It has been a special year all around, cross country was a lot of fun, just getting to train and compete with the guys and finish the season with a state title. I had a really good indoor season running 4:10 in the mile and 9:01 in the 3200m, but outdoor had many challenges with some sickness and a few little injuries, so I had to take a step back and put my pride aside to try get myself ready for the state meet and do my best to contribute to the team,” said Marshall.
At state track and field meet this season, Marshall was able to contribute 24.5 point to Winfield’s track and field championship performance; placing second in 1600m and 3200m, third in the 800m, and contributing to the 4x400m team championship.
“Brayden has had a stellar career at Winfield High School. What he has accomplished in his four years has been extraordinary. He has been a leader in both cross country and track and field, leading by example in both sports,” said head cross country and track and field coach Shawn Anderson. Marshall was a key contributor in Winfield’s Team State Championships in 2022 and 2024 in track and field and 2021 and 2023 in cross country.
When discussing his time at Winfield High School Marshall said, “I would just like to say thank you to my family for their unending support they show me, my coaches who have worked with me and who have been more than just an instructor, and finally my incredible teammates I have had throughout high school.”
In addition to his outstanding performance in Cross Country and Track and Field, Marshall was also heavily involved at Winfield. He was the Student Body President and a member of National Honor Society and DECA. Looking forward, Marshall has committed to run at NC State next season and plans to study mechanical engineering.
