Cole Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Male Gamer of the Week to Keith Cole of Winfield Swimming!

Keith Cole has been a standout performer for Winfield Swim. Cole finished 6th in the 100-free in a time of 58.42 and 9th in the 50-free in a time of 25.63 at the Region 4 Championship. “The season has been going well, we’ve made a lot of progress, and everyone has been working hard to get the relay to states,” said Cole. The team will be competing in the 200-medley relay at the State Meet after placing 5th at Regionals in a time of 2:03.71. Cole swam the 50-fly portion of the race and split 29.02.

Earlier this season, Cole won the 50-free in a time of 25.98 and the 100-fly in a time of 1:14.77 at the Putnam County Championship Meet. “Keith’s ability to stay focused under pressure and maintain a positive attitude even when facing tough competition has made him a standout. Keith has consistently pushed the limits of his training, and the results show in the pool. As he continues to refine his skills and push forward, Keith remains committed to inspiring others on the swim team with his hard work and determination,” said Head Swim Coach Michael Bordenet.

Cole started swimming competitively when he was younger, and says that it was prompted by his mother wanting him and his siblings to learn how to swim because she wasn’t a good swimmer. He started swimming again his freshman year, and says he enjoys the sport especially the community and interactions with other swimmers. When discussing role models, he pointed to Coach Bordenet who he says has taught him a lot. In addition to swimming, Cole is a member of National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society.

Cole and the Generals will be back in action February 20-21st for State Meet at Mylan Park Aquatics Center in Morgantown WV.
