Samms Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Male Gamer of the Week to Brogan Samms of St. Albans Basketball!

Brogan Samms has been leading the way for the St. Albans High School Basketball Team this season. The Sophomore is averaging 21 points, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds per game while shooting 43% from the field. “The season has been going well, started off a little rough, but we got it together. We have been playing hard and doing the best we can,” said Samms. He went on to attribute his individual success this season to being in the gym a lot working on his game, and says he is looking forward to trying to win their last two games and making a run in the playoffs.

“Brogan is the hardest worker that I’ve ever coached. He is consistently in the gym and has put many hours into bettering his game when no one is watching. This is a key factor to his success as a player. His competitiveness drives him to be the best version of himself and is key for the success of this team,” said Head Coach Bryan England. Samms earned Mountain State Athletic Conference special honorable mention honors in basketball as a freshman, and has continued to improve his game this season.

Samms started playing basketball when he was young and says he has always had a basketball in his hands. He likes how the game is fast paced and that you can’t think about your mistakes you just have to get to the next play quickly. When discussing people who have helped him along the way he pointed to his parents and coaches, but especially his parents who have been very supportive. In addition to basketball, Samms is on the baseball team at St Albans and earned MSAC first team all-conference honors last season.

St Albans will be back in action tonight at 7:30pm in their season finale at Parkersburg.
