Jones Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Male Gamer of the Week to Spencer Jones of Poca Wrestling!  

Spencer Jones has been dominant in the 150lb weight class this season for Poca. To start off the season Jones won the Roane County and Nitro Pat Vance Invitational. The sophomore is 14-1 this season with 13 of his wins by pin or tech fall.    

“Spencer is only a sophomore but already one of the leaders on the team. He works hard in practice and during competitions. He’s very coachable and the other wrestlers look up to him. It’s exciting to watch his accomplishments in this tough sport,” said Head Coach Gary Graley.  

When discussing highlights this season, Jones said “I like my finals match at Pat Vance, I saw someone use a move on one of my teammates earlier in the tournament, and I ended it up using it in that match to get the pin.”   

Jones started wrestling when he was young, and likes the physicality of the sport. He attributes a lot of his success to his coaches, teammates, and the work he put in this offseason to get stronger. In addition to wrestling, Jones is a member of the football team at football.
