Elzy Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Senior JayCee Elzy of the St. Albans High School Basketball team.

JayCee Elzy’s passion for basketball runs deep, and it’s clear she’s been honing her skills since she was a young child. Inspired by her older siblings, who played the sport, JayCee’s love for the game was sparked early. Now, as a key player on her team, she continues to thrive both as an athlete and a leader.

"JayCee Elzy has been phenomenal for our team this year. Her leadership and relentless work ethic continue to set the standard for our team," says Head Coach Elias Gregory, emphasizing the immense value JayCee brings to the team.

Having started playing at around 5 or 6 years old, JayCee’s growth in basketball is marked by a strong desire to learn and improve. For her, the most rewarding aspect of the sport is not just the skills she’s developed, but the friendships she's forged along the way. This season, JayCee's goal is to help the team improve on last year's performance and ultimately make it to the state championship. She believes that the key to their success lies in their shared commitment to getting better each day.

While she plays all positions on the court, JayCee’s primary focus is on the 3 and 4 spots. Her impressive stats—averaging around 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3-4 steals per game—speak to her versatility and skill. But beyond the numbers, it's her leadership and work ethic that make her stand out.

JayCee credits her brother as her role model, admiring his dedication and relentless hard work. These same values drive her on the court, where she’s always pushing herself and her teammates to strive for excellence.

Off the court, JayCee is equally dedicated. She attends the Ben Franklin Career Center for Medical Assisting and is a proud member of the National Technical Honor Society. Her balanced approach to academics and athletics is a reflection of her discipline and determination. Catch the Lady Dragons back in action on Saturday January 25th versus the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles at home.
