Cox Earns Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Male Gamer of the Week to Ean Cox of Winfield Baseball!
Ean Cox has been a key contributor for the (11-4) Winfield Generals baseball team this season. “Ean is a very valuable and versatile player for us. He can play multiple infield positions, pitches, and can hit in various spots in the batting order. He is a vocal leader for us on the field and in the club house,” said head coach Will Isaacs.
The Junior has .265 average with .511 on base percentage as well as two wins on the mound this season. “I put in a lot of work this off season hitting and lifting which has been put to use on the field this season,” said Cox “I really liked our first home game, it was a good atmosphere against a good opponent, and I thought I played well along with the rest of my teammates,” he continued when discussing highlights this season.
Cox started playing baseball when he was four and says he likes how you have to overcome adversity in baseball. “They say baseball is a game of failure and it can be frustrating, but I feel like overcoming that is a really good feeling, like getting out of a slump,” said Cox.
When discussing role models and people who have helped him along the way, he pointed to his dad who has always been willing to help and work with him, as well as his coaches and teammates.
In addition to baseball, Cox is involved in the bible study club at school and helps out with the local little leagues.
Looking forward, Cox says that he is looking forward to some good regional games coming up, spending time with his teammates, and having a successful season. Winfield will be back in action Wednesday April 23rd when they travel to take on the (8-5) Charleston Catholic at 6pm.
