Bailey Earns Gamer of the Week

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Senior, Sophie Bailey of the Poca High School Volleyball team.

With the volleyball season in full swing, Sophie Bailey, a standout player for Poca High School, is making waves both on and off the court. Playing since the 5th grade, Bailey has developed a passion for the sport’s fast pace and intensity, which has driven her to set ambitious goals for this season. “Our team’s success comes from our drive, energy, and work ethic,” Bailey said. “We’re all committed to making it to states and pushing as far as we can.”

Wearing the number 5 jersey, Sophie excels in both middle and outside positions, showcasing impressive stats with an average of 4.76 kills per set and 1 block per set. Sohpie’s contributions have been pivotal in leading her team to strive for a state championship, a goal that has been the driving force behind their relentless practice and dedication.

Off the court, Bailey is inspired by Madison Skinner, a prominent player from Texas’s volleyball team. Skinner’s accomplishments and technique have had a significant impact on Sophie’s approach to the game. “Madison Skinner is a huge role model for me,” Bailey shared. “Her skill and achievements push me to improve and reach my own goals.”

Sophie is a team captain known for averaging 11 kills and 7 blocks per match, standing as a formidable opponent and a source of inspiration. “Sophie is the go-to player when her team needs an extra push,” Coach Paul Chinuntdet acknowledged.

In addition to high school volleyball, Bailey competes with Putnam Volleyball Club, where she continues to refine her skills and gain valuable experience. Sophie’s performance has not gone unnoticed, and she is looking ahead to the possibility of playing collegiate volleyball. Poca volleyball is set to serve another game September 14th at 8am versus the Riverside Warriors.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s Female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald.
