Cole Earns Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Junior, Brooklyn Cole of the Winfield High School Volleyball team.
From an early age, volleyball has been more than just a game for Brooklyn Cole. After watching her sister Ava play, she was inspired to join in, bringing her own enthusiasm to the sport. Playing since the 6th grade, she has grown to love volleyball for its emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
So far this season Cole has delivered a remarkable performance on the volleyball court. With 143 kills, averaging 8 per set, and a hitting percentage of .312, her offensive capabilities are clearly a key asset to the team. Defensively, she has recorded 46 blocks, averaging 3 per set, showcasing her strength at the net. Cole’s serving skills are also very evident, with 20 aces and an average of 1 per set, contributing significantly to her team’s overall success.
This season, her team has set a high bar with their goal of winning the state championship. Cole, a middle blocker wearing the number 16 jersey, plays a crucial role in the team’s strategy and defense. “Not only is Brooklyn one of the best middle hitters in the state, she is also a wonderful person and dedicated teammate. Her work ethic and positive energy are matched only by her incredible talent, and we are lucky to have her on our side of the net!” said Coach Jennifer Herscher. Her dedication has contributed to the team's impressive performance so far, and she remains optimistic about their continued improvement and success.
Beyond the court, she finds inspiration in the teachings of Jesus, striving to integrate these values into her everyday life. Her commitment to personal growth is as strong as her dedication to the sport. Looking forward, she has aspirations to continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level and to explore new places through her travels. The Winfield Lady Generals will be back in action Thursday September 19th at 6:30pm versus St. Albans and Buffalo High School hosted at St. Albans High School.
Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s Female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald.
