McBride Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Kamauri McBride of Poca Football!

Kamauri McBride has been leading the way for the 3-0 Poca Football team this season. The Junior Quarterback is 20-29 passing for 474 yards with 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions this season.   “Kam has put in a lot of work this offseason to put himself in a position to play at a high level. He’s done a great job taking what the defense gives him and not forcing anything,” said Head Coach Seth Ramsey.

“He has a real feel for playing the QB position and does a great job of extending plays. Kam is very poised under pressure and his teammates have complete faith in his ability to lead the offense.  Kam is a great kid and we look forward to watching him flourish over the next two years,” he continued.

After a 3-7 season last year, the Dots have started this season hot defeating Liberty 34-8, Midland Trail 19-6, and Buffalo 46-8. “The season has been going great, coming out 3-0, think we can be good this season,” said McBride. “We have a great running back Preston Bonnett, and then we have been able to get the passing game going,” he continued.

McBride says that he started playing football when he was young and has looked up to his older brother who he considers a role model. When discussing what he likes most about football, he said “The environment especially here at Poca, and we have some great guys and coaches.”

The Dots will travel to Logan to take on the Wildcats Friday at 7:00pm.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
