Preston Keiffer Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Preston Keiffer of Winfield Baseball!

Preston Keiffer has been a key contributor to the 27-3 Winfield Generals baseball team. The Junior has an impressive .349 batting average with 24 runs batted in, 16 stolen bases, and has crossed home plate 30 times this season. “Preston has been a vital contributor to our success this year. His clutch hitting, fearless base running and stellar defensive play have been a catalyst for us all season,” said Head Coach Will Issacs.

Winfield started the season off with a 19-game win streak, and are on a 7-game win streak heading into regionals. “The season has been going well, we started off hot then had a couple rough games but now we are rolling into regionals,” said Keifer. When discussing his individual success Keifer pointed to the extra work he put in this off-season, saying “even during basketball season and when it was cold I would just get in the hitting building and get a few extra reps in.”

Keiffer started playing T-ball when he was young and kept playing all the way through to high school. He says what he likes most about baseball is the friends and memories he has made and the difficulty of the sport. When discussing role models, he pointed to his dad who got him started in the sport as well as all of his coaches.

In addition to Baseball, Keifer is a member of the golf team, basketball team, and national honor society at Winfield.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
