State Champions Winfield High School Girls Track and Field

 

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald would like to Congratulate Winfield Girls Track and Field on their State Championship!

Winfield Girls Track and Field capped off another great season with their fourth state title in a row.  The Generals scored 99.83 points and had a 27-point lead on runner up Oak Glen. “The kids worked so hard, stayed focused, and ran as a team. Very proud to be their coach,” said head coach David Bailey.

This year’s state title was a full team effort with Carlie Sibold in the 100m Hurdles, Abbie McGhee in the Pole Vault, and the Shuttle Hurdle relay consisting of Carlie Sibold, Mia Duterte, Gabby Canterbury, and Ashlee Johnson being the only event champions.

Winfield scored a lot of points in the relays; winning the Shuttle Hurdle Relays, placing second in 4x800m (Anessa Hess, Sophie Briscoe, Hannah Starcher, Kayla Taylor), 3rd in the 4x100m (Makaila Armstrong, Marley Waugh, Madi Arthur, Josie Wood) 5th in the 4x200m (Makaila Armstrong, Marley Waugh, Madi Arthur, Carli Sibold), 8th in the 4x400m (Kayla Taylor, Gabby Canterbury, Anessa Hess, Mia Duterte)

In addition to the two individual state champions, Winfield had many individuals with top 3 finishes including;  Makaila Armstrong in the 100m, Mia Duterte in the 300m hurdles, Izzy Wooten in the Pole vault, and Grace Yeager in the Discus.
