Anderson Earns Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Junior, Kendall Anderson of the Hurricane High School Soccer team.
As the soccer season progresses, Kendall Anderson, a forward for the Hurricane High School soccer team, is making headlines with her remarkable performances. With 23 goals and 8 assists this season, Kendall’s skills and leadership have become crucial to her team’s success. “Kendall is a team leader on and off the pitch, she has the skills and work rate to be one of the best players in the state,” said Coach Rueben Ellis.
Kendall’s journey in soccer began at just two years old, inspired by her older sister’s passion for the game. Now, after 14 years of dedication and hard work, she has established herself as a formidable player. "I love having the space to run and be creative on the field," Kendall says.
A key aspect of Kendall’s success is her commitment to teamwork. She emphasizes the importance of being a supportive teammate and leader. "Our team is like a family," she explains. "We strive to play to the best of our ability every game, regardless of the score." This camaraderie is evident on the field, where the players encourage one another and work together to achieve their goals. Kendall draws inspiration from professional soccer players Tobin Heath for her creative play and Lauren Holiday, admiring how she portrayed Christ while playing professionally.
Beyond her accomplishments in soccer, Kendall is also actively involved in her community. She participates in various extracurricular activities, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Art Honor Society, Link Crew, Eastern Elite Travel soccer, Hurricane Basketball and the River Ridge Youth Leadership Team. Additionally, she is involved in a Bible study group and the River Ridge Youth Praise Team.
Looking to the future, Kendall plans to pursue a career in physical therapy or sports medicine while continuing to play soccer at the collegiate level. As the season continues, Anderson and the Hurricane Redskins are determined to finish the season strong. The Lady Redskins will be back in action Saturday, October 12th at 10am versus the Morgantown Mohigans.
